Newborn lambs and kid goats need to consume adequate amounts of colostrum soon after birth and throughout the first day of life to allow them to maintain body temperature and to ensure adequate immunoglobulin transfer. HEADSTART ® HiCal is an excellent source of colostral fat and lactose needed to avoid hypoglycemia and hypothermia plus the nutrients, immunoglobulins, and growth factors necessary to support good health, growth, and long term performance. » Use to supplement or replace ewe colostrum when a) the quality or quantity of available ewe colostrum is inadequate, b) lambs are unable to suckle (multiple birth situations, first pregnancy ewes, sick or weak ewes), or c) ewes are infected with ovine progressive pneumonia (OPP), Johne’s Disease or other diseases that can be transferred from ewe to lamb through colostrum. HEADSTART ® HICAL » Use to supplement or replace doe colostrum when a) the quality or quantity of available doe colostrum is inadequate, b) kids are unable to suckle (multiple birth situations, first pregnancy does, sick or weak does), or c) does are infected with caprine arthritis encephalitis (CAE) virus, Johne’s Disease, or other diseases that can be transferred from doe to kid goats through colostrum. » HEADSTART ® HiCal is made only from natural, premium quality bovine colostrum. It is not a manufactured recipe based on blood serum, whey, eggs, vegetable fats or other ingredients not naturally found in colostrum. Added fats do not give the same benefit as true colostral fat and blood sourced globulin proteins are not absorbed as well as colostral globulin proteins. FEEDING RECOMMENDATIONS » For measuring individual feedings based on lamb body weight, a convenient scoop is provided in the pail SCCL 30 Molaro Place Saskatoon, SK, Canada S7K 6A2 Phone: (+1) 866-242-3185 (toll free in Canada and the USA) Phone: (+1) 306-242-3185 Fax: (+1) 306-373-5766 support@sccl.com
